February News

Happy Leap Year, friends! I am pleased to share on this rare day that my new poetry book, Languages, First and Last, is available on Amazon. Pre-order ends today, and tomorrow we go live. It is also available on the publisher site, CyberwitPress.

Many thanks to managing editor Dr. Karunesh Kumar Agrawal for making this happen. Also, many thanks to my talented bestie, Julie Tyner, for the beautiful and vibrant cover art.

As always, reviews and feedback are appreciated. If you are interested in a reviewer copy, please let me know.

Other work published this month:

“Surprise Blooms” at Change Seven Magazine.

“The Clock-Drawing Test,” “A Jazz Fable” and “Aquarium” all appear in the latest issue of Artifact Nouveau. Thanks to editor Ronald Godoy for including my work.

Also, I just want to say thank you again to Brandon Whitehead and Jill Cockson for organizing and hosting the Speakeasy Event at Swordfish Tom’s in KC. I was one of the featured poets this month. It’s a great venue, and I had a blast sharing my work with the lovely attendees.

I have some other publications lined up for the next few months, but otherwise, I have not written any new poetry or submitted any work since November. I wanted to focus on finishing Book VI of The Order of the Four Sons series. I know I keep saying it’s almost done, and it really is. The parts I’ve been working on these past few months have all been heavy—dramatic confrontations, revelations, big conclusions, that sort of thing. O4S has been 13 years in the making now. I’m coming to the end of an era, and I want to give it the proper send-off. The holidays did not give me as much time as I’d hoped to work on it, and I’ve had some other intervening factors—health issues, planning to move (again), my husband’s job coming to an end, my role at work expanding, and having to say goodbye to our beloved cat Jack. In short, it’s been a time of great upheaval.

I don’t know how 2020 is going to shake out—I don’t think it’s going to be as prolific as last year. But that’s all right. I appreciate everyone’s patience and support.

Here’s looking forward to spring, everybody.
